Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Nyoma, about 25 km from Leh, on Friday morning without any notice and without a pre-arranged program to boost the morale of the troops deployed on the Chinese border.

Prime Minister Modi also performed Sindhu Darshan Puja by reaching Neemu in the Forward Brigade at Ladakh. Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Narwane also accompanied Prime Minister Modi on the visit.

After arriving at the Leh airport at 7:00 am on Friday by a special Air Force plane, Prime Minister Modi boarded a helicopter and flew straight to Nyoma. There, Lieutenant General Y.K. Joshi briefed Prime Minister Modi on the ground situation regarding differences with China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

The army's brigade headquarters is located at Nyoma, as well as the battalion headquarters of several army regiments. This place is located on the banks of the river Indus, which is associated with Indian history. This is why the Army Commander briefed Prime Minister Modi on all the status of the Line of Actual Control on the banks of the Indus River.

Every year in June or July, a fair for Sindhu Darshan is organized which was started by senior BJP leader and former Prime Minister LK Advani in the 90s. However, the fair could not be held this year due to the corona virus.

Prime Minister Modi also addressed the Army personnel at Nyoma. At the time, the prime minister targeted China without naming names. He said that the era of regionalism has come to an end and now is the time for developmentalism. Evolution is only relevant in a rapidly changing world. There are also opportunities for evolution and evolution is the basis of the future.
