After India and America, now Australia is also preparing to ban Tiktok

New Delhi, 10 July 2020 Friday

The Australian government is also preparing to ban China's video-sharing app Tiktok, citing data security risks, a ban already in place in India, and the US government is now joining the exercise.

According to the South China Morning Post, Liberal Party's Jim Mola said Tiktok was being abused by the Chinese government.

Labor Senator McAllister said Tiktok's representatives would be presented to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs to reveal the true nature of its relationship with the Chinese government.

According to the newspaper, Tiktok's parent company Bitdance has claimed that its servers are in the US and Singapore. Although it is not difficult for the Chinese government to get close to this data, the company said in January that no data storage system in the world can guarantee 100 percent security.

The company said that if a Tiktok user wants to be banned by the government, the data on its server will not be deleted on its own, as it is not possible to get it back without the company's help once the data has been transferred.
