The government has announced to give five kg of wheat, or rice as well as one kg of chickpeas to 80 crore people of the country as part of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana till November so that the poor do not go hungry in the midst of Corona transition.

When all these grains have to be provided by the government for free, the question is, how much grain will the government need for this and how much stock does the government have? According to the information received, it seems that the government has already made preparations for this scheme. And bought a record break of chickpeas.

First of all, as far as wheat and rice are concerned, according to the government's announcement, 4 million tonnes per month and a total of 200 lakh tonnes of foodgrains in five months will be required. There has been a slight decline. From September, new rice will start arriving in the godowns.

According to the government's announcement, eight lakh tonnes of chickpeas will be required to be given to the people. For this, the government has already procured 21 lakh tonnes of chickpeas from farmers, which will meet the requirement for three months. The government will have to procure additional for the remaining two months.

The government will spend Rs 90,000 crore on this scheme.
