13 killed, 59 injured in Chicago shooting

At least 13 people, including a seven-year-old girl, were killed and 59 others were injured when four unidentified men opened fire indiscriminately during a celebration of the Fourth of July family in Chicago, police said.

Four unidentified men opened fire on a crowd gathered on Inglewood Road shortly before midnight on Saturday. Two people were killed on the spot.

Two people, including a 14-year-old teenager, died at the hospital, according to police officer Tom Ahram. Four others were injured, one in critical condition and three others with minor injuries. The four fled the scene after the shooting. No one was arrested.

A seven-year-old girl who was shot in the Austin area died on the spot when a bullet struck her while she was standing next to her grandmother's house. According to police, the four assailants got out of a car and opened fire indiscriminately. A seven-year-old girl was also killed.

The girl was one of the youngsters whose dreams were dashed by a gunshot. According to a press release, seven minors were among those killed in the firing. One week ago, a woman in a car was shot in the head.
