According to US intelligence sources, 40 Chinese soldiers, including a commanding officer of a Chinese unit, were killed in a clash between Indian and Chinese troops on the Ladakh border.

At the Ladakh border, Chinese helicopters were seen picking up the bodies of Chinese soldiers and seriously wounded soldiers. According to information received, China's intention was to seek reconciliation through fear by creating an atmosphere of unrest.
