Eighty-five per cent of coronavirus cases in the country are from eight states, including Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, and 87% of all deaths are from these eight states. Currently, about 85% of active cases of corona come from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Telangana, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal, and 87% of all deaths in India are in these states, the ministry said.

The total number of Corona positive cases in India is 508,953 of which 197,387 are active cases. Across the country, 295,881 people have recovered and 15,685 have died so far. The Union Minister said that PPE kits and N95 masks have been delivered to all the states. The mortality rate is 3% and the doubling rate is 18 days.

He said there are 1,026 labs across the country and now more than two lakh samples are being tested every day. More than 130,000 complaints were received in various cases in which 80% of the cases have been resolved.

The health ministry said 15 central teams have deployed public health experts, epidemiologists and a senior joint secretary level official to help the states. Another central team is currently visiting Gujarat, Maharashtra and Telangana to strengthen ongoing efforts for the management of Corona.
