There is a shortage of space for cremation in Delhi cemeteries

New Delhi, Dt. 13 Saturday 2020, Saturday

Amid rising corona cases, scenes like the one in America are now being seen in India as well.

Just as there was a dearth of space for burial in New York, USA, there is also a shortage of space for burial in cemeteries in the national capital, Delhi.

Delhi's Nigambodh Ghat cemetery has 48 platforms for cheetahs killed by corona, but they are dwindling. Another 25 platforms are being set up along the river.

Pundits conducting cremation at Nigambodh Ghat also say that for the last fortnight, we have been conducting funerals of 40 to 50 dead people every day and now we are also tired. We are disturbed by the ever-increasing number of dead bodies.

The number of corona patients in Delhi has crossed 34000. On the other hand, the death toll is also increasing day by day. As a result, four cremation ghats have been set up in Delhi instead of two. However, there is a situation of waiting for four to five hours for the funeral.
