The farmer walked 15 km to repay the bank loan of Rs 3 and 46 paise

Bengaluru, Ta. 27. June 2020 Saturday

A farmer living in Shimoga district of Karnataka walked 15 km from his home to the bank to repay a bank loan and his eyes widened when he found out the balance of the loan after reaching the bank.

According to the details of this strange case, Amad Laxminarayan, a resident of Shimoga district, received a call from a Canara Bank branch in a nearby city. That said, pay off your loan immediately. However, the bank did not say how much loan was due and how long it would take to repay.

Laxminarayan, who lives in a forest area, was horrified by the bank's phone call. He immediately left to go to the bank. However, he did not get the bus due to the lockdown. Thus he walked 15 kilometers to reach the bank.

When inquired at the bank, he was told that the outstanding amount of the loan was Rs 3 and 46 paise. The farmer was annoyed to hear this. Laxminarayan immediately paid the amount.

"I took a loan of Rs 35,000 from a bank," he said. 32000 was waived by the government. Then recently I paid the outstanding amount of Rs 3000. Even after that I was shocked when the bank called to clear the loan. In panic I went to the bank. But when I heard the amount left in the bank, I was shocked.

The bank, on the other hand, said it was in the process of clearing the loan and had called the farmer as his signature was required.
