The effects of coronavirus need not be underestimated, it is just as dangerous as before: WHO

Geneva, Ta. 02 June 2020 Tuesday

The World Health Organization has predicted that the corona virus is as dangerous as ever and its effects cannot be underestimated. The WHO issued the warning following a statement from an Italian doctor who said the virus was weakening.

"We need to be vigilant," said Michael Ryan, WHO's emergency director, in a virtual briefing. It is not advisable to think that the virus will suddenly disappear or that its effects will diminish.

Dr. Alberto Gingrillo, a resident of Milan, Italy, said in an interview with a local television station that the Covid-19 transition was losing its power and had become less lethal. He said the virus is much weaker now than it was a month or two ago. He also claims that clinically corona viruses are no longer present in Italy.

Although doctors claim the virus has weakened, officials say Lombardy has become the most affected area in the north. There have been 16,131 deaths and 89,018 cases so far. However, only 50 new cases were reported on Monday, the lowest number of cases reported daily since February 26 in Italy.

Health officials say there have been 178 new cases in the last 24 hours and the number of infected patients has risen to 233,197 while 60 people have lost their lives in the meantime. The death toll has risen to 33,475.
