Security forces kill two militants in encounter at Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir

In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces are still conducting operations against militants. Clashes between militants and security forces are still ongoing in the Sugo Hedhama area of ​​Shopian and the army has killed two militants. This is the third encounter at Shopian in the last one week. Security forces had earlier killed five militants on Sunday and four on Monday.

A joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army 44 RR and CRPF team launched a search operation in Sugo Hedhama area on Wednesday morning. At that moment, the militants opened fire on the security forces, causing a barrage of gunfire on both sides.

Senior police officials confirmed the firing between the militants and security forces. Officials say two to three militants are reported to be in hiding. Two of the militants have been shot dead but their bodies have not been found and an encounter is underway.

This is the third incident of encounter at Shopian in the last one week. Security forces had earlier killed five militants on Sunday and four militants during a search operation the next day. More than 15 militants have been killed in the past two weeks, according to a report.
