Punjab also imposed corona cess on liquor, raising the price from Rs 2 to Rs 50

New Delhi, 1 May 2020 Monday

Amid Corona's lockdown, the Amarinder Singh government of Punjab has imposed a coveted cess on liquor sales in the state. "We have decided to increase the cess on liquor from June 1," Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said.

They said the cess would range from Rs 2 to Rs 50 depending on the size and size of the product. The amount collected from it will be used for Covid-19 related expenses.

It may be mentioned here that the Punjab government has already imposed corona cess on liquor in most of the states. The Punjab government is also making home delivery of liquor to protect people from corona infection.

Liquor stores in the state are open for only four hours from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is being said that a man will get at least two liters of alcohol.

That is, no one can ask for more alcohol than this. The Punjab government has taken this decision with the objective of following the lockdown and social distance measures.
