Polling on June 19 for a total of 18 Rajya Sabha seats, including four in Gujarat

The Election Commission has announced elections for 18 Rajya Sabha seats. A total of 18 Rajya Sabha seats will go to polls on June 19. This includes four seats in Gujarat. The polls were scheduled for March 26, but were canceled due to the Koro crisis.

Voting for 4 Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat will be held from 9 am to 4 pm and counting of votes will be held at 5 pm. The BJP has fielded three candidates, Abhay Bhardwaj, Ramilaben Bara and Narhari Amin. While the Congress has fielded Shaktisinh Gohil and Bharatsinh Solanki.

Voting was to be held for 55 Rajya Sabha seats but the last date for withdrawal of names was March 18 and by then only one name for 37 seats had come up and on March 18, 37 candidates were elected unopposed. Voting for the remaining 18 seats was scheduled for March 18.

The 18 seats to be polled include 4-4 in Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh, 3-3 in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, 2 in Jharkhand and one each in Manipur and Meghalaya.
