New delhi date. 11 June 2020, Thursday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed a special function of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) amid the Corona virus epidemic. As the event was being held in Kolkata, the Prime Minister began his speech in Bengali and said that the ICC has been serving the country for 95 years. At the same time, he said that in the current times, it is very important for the country to become self-reliant, so it has to reduce its dependence on other countries.

On the subject of self-reliant India, the Prime Minister said, "Today we have to think about how the things we have to import from abroad are made in our country and how we export them later." This is the time to be vocal for the local. Major reforms have been announced under the Self-Reliant India Campaign and are now being rolled out.

The Prime Minister said, "Strengthening is being done on a cluster basis for local products. Efforts are being made to make the North East a hub for organic farming and could become a global identity if the ICC so desires. After five years, the organization will complete 100 years and in 2022, the country will complete 75 years of independence. In these circumstances, some goals should be set to complete the self-reliant India campaign.

Prime Minister Modi said that the ICC has seen a lot since its inception and has been a part of the country's development journey. The annual meeting of the organization is being held at a time when the country is grappling with challenges like corona, locust infestation, fire, earthquake, hurricane. Sometimes time also takes our exams but the person who has already given up does not see new opportunities. Success comes only from constant striving for victory. The only cure for this difficult time is strength so resolve to turn disaster into opportunity and make a self-reliant India a turning point.
