Planning of Puri Rathyatra can be done without the presence of people: Center

New delhi date. Monday, June 22, 2020

The single bench of the apex court today heard four petitions seeking amendment to its June 18 order. Referring to the annual rath yatra before the apex court, the central government said that the rath yatra could be organized without public participation in view of the Kovid-19 epidemic.

In an earlier hearing, the court had banned rath yatras in Puri and other places in Odisha following the Korona virus epidemic. Several petitions were filed in the court against him.

The planning of the prestigious and much talked about Rathyatra held every year in Odisha had been in doubt for a long time. Because of this the temple committee suggested holding it without the presence of devotees. The court, however, ruled in favor of the ban.
