International Yoga Day: ITBP troopers perform yoga on an ice sheet in Ladakh

Ladakh, Ta. 21 June 2020, Sunday

ITBP troopers performed yoga and pranayama at an altitude of 18,000 feet in Ladakh on the occasion of International Yoga Day. On the occasion of International Yoga Day, a team of ITBP troopers practiced yoga on a blanket of white snow on the ground in Ladakh. The temperature in Ladakh, where the soldiers did yoga, is even lower than zero degrees. Yoga practice presented a very beautiful view by moving on a white sheet of snow.

It may be mentioned that the border between India and China has been drawn in Ladakh and recently there was a violent clash between the armies of the two countries at that place. It is the duty of ITBP to protect the border. Today, on the occasion of Yoga Day, ITBP jawans in Ladakh did yoga wearing black glasses on a white sheet of snow. Yoga and pranayama were also done in Sikkim by the ITBP.

The pictures in front showed less snow in Sikkim as compared to Ladakh but the view was very beautiful. ITBP troopers did yoga under the blue sky and the intersection of clouds.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of International Yoga Day conveyed a message of patience and karma to the country and the world. He said that the seeker of yoga never loses patience even in times of crisis. Yoga means 'Samatvam Yoga Uchyate'. In other words, yoga is the name of being in every situation, adversity-adversity, success-failure, happiness-crisis. In the Gita, Lord Krishna, while defining yoga, says that- 'Yoga: Karmasu Kaushalam'. In other words, the skill of karma is yoga.

He also said that the need for yoga in the world today is even greater than before, regardless of the Kovid-19 epidemic. He said that this disease first affects our respiratory system and many asanas of yoga increase the strength of our body while pranayama strengthens the respiratory system and helps in fighting this disease.
