In Pakistan, oil prices have risen by Rs. 25 increase, petrol-diesel Rs 100 per liter

Islamabad, Ta. Sunday 28 June 2020

The sudden rise in crude oil prices in Pakistan has shocked the people. The Pakistani government has raised the prices of petroleum products, including petrol and diesel, by a record. The rise in oil prices has ranged from 27 per cent to 66 per cent depending on production.

The current price of petrol in Pakistan has been increased by Rs 25.58 in a single day. After which the price has gone up to 100.10 Pakistani rupees per liter. Earlier, petrol was priced at Rs 74.52 per liter. The government attributed the rise to rising prices in the international market.

Diesel has become more expensive in Pakistan than petrol. Here, the price of high speed diesel has gone up by Rs 21.31 to Rs 101.46 per liter. The price of kerosene has also gone up by Rs 23.50 to Rs 59.06 per liter. Light diesel oil has been hiked by Rs 17.84 to Rs 55.98. Earlier, it was priced at Rs 38.14.

The move to hike petrol-diesel prices is unexpected as prices were hiked last month and the hike was implemented till June 30. Many are upset by the Pakistani government's move.

Most of the supervisors have agreed that the move was taken to curb supply shortages in some parts of the country due to a pricing dispute between the government and the industry. There is a severe shortage of oil in some parts of Pakistan.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has promised to improve the living standards of the general public, has lost his temper. Sugar prices also rose in February amid a shortage of flour in Pakistan. Imran Khan now had to intervene after the rising prices of flour and sugar, which are essential for daily life.
