The tradition of organizing Lord Jagannath's rathyatra in Puri, Odisha, which has been going on for years, is now to be maintained. The Supreme Court has conditionally approved it. With this, the rathyatra will start on Tuesday. Following the court's decision, Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the people of Odisha.

"Today is a special day for all of us, especially our brothers and sisters in Odisha, as well as the entire country is happy with the Supreme Court's decision to ensure a rath yatra for the devotees of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannathji," he tweeted.

In another tweet, Shah said, "It is a matter of great pleasure for me to have millions of devotees in India that Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only understood the sentiments of the devotees but also applied the advice to follow the great traditions of our land."

Earlier, Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday spoke to Gajapati Maharaja Divyasingh Dev, chairman of the Jagannath Temple Management Committee, amid uncertainties over Lord Jagannath's rathyatra. He hoped that the Supreme Court would allow a rath yatra to be held in Puri this year.
