Earthquake shakes Haryana, 15 km from Rohtak

Many parts of northern India have been hit by earthquakes in the last few days. The quake struck Rohtak in Haryana at 4:15 am on Thursday.

The quake had no effect in most places as its magnitude was only 2.1 on the Richter scale. Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Gujarat, Jharkhand and Odisha have been hit by low-intensity earthquakes in recent times. In the last one week, 25 low-magnitude tremors have been felt across the country.

On June 16, an earthquake shook Kashmir

Earlier on Tuesday, a moderate magnitude earthquake shook Kashmir at 7:00 am. Its magnitude was measured 5.8 on the Richter scale and its epicenter was in the Tajik region while the depth was 100 km below ground level.

Kashmir is located in the region most prone to earthquakes. Kashmir has also suffered heavy casualties in the past due to the earthquake. A magnitude 7.6 earthquake on October 8, 2005 in Jammu and Kashmir killed more than 80,000 people on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC).

3 earthquakes in 24 hours in Gujarat

On June 15, two mild tremors shook the Rajkot district of Gujarat. A day earlier, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake shook the region on Sunday. A magnitude 3.5 earthquake 132 km northwest of Rajkot and another 4.1 magnitude earthquake. At 8:13 pm on Sunday, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake shook the same district. The quake was also felt in several parts of the state, including Ahmedabad.
