ICMR and AIIMS have jointly released guidelines for rapid antigen testing. A plant has been set up in Manesar Gurgaon, fitting a kit from a South Korean company. Samples will be taken from the nose through this rapid testing kit. The result will be known in 30 minutes. The kit from this South Korean company has been found to have a true positive result rate of 50 to 84 percent. AIIMS and ICMR have checked this kit at 2 sites. And has since approved rapid tests.

The guidelines are as follows

1. Containment zone and hotspot area:

- This is checked through the test kit

- Everyone with a fever should be tested.

- People who come in contact with a positive person should also be tested.

- High risk groups such as cancer and kidney patients living in the containment zone should also be tested.

2. In the hospital:

- All patients coming to the hospital with fever symptoms should be tested.

- Health care workers who are likely to be infected should also be tested.

- High risk groups such as cancer patients or patients suffering from any other serious illness should also be tested.

3. The most important:

- If the sample is negative then it will be confirmed a second time through RT-PCR test.

- If the test is positive, it will be considered positive, there is no need to test again.

- Testing should be done after the fifth day of the symptom to know the true result of the sample.
