Conflict in Chinese territory is not our responsibility: China

Beijing, Ta. 17 June 2020, Wednesday

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has once again blamed India for the violence after 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a violent clash in the border area with India. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijin said on Wednesday that "we are not responsible for the violence that has taken place in China's LAC region." He also said that the two countries were in touch with diplomatic and military channels.

According to Lijin, "It is very clear that the incident of violence took place in an area under the Line of Control (LoC) of China, so it is not the responsibility of China. Both China and India are in close touch to resolve relevant issues at the diplomatic level. Earlier on Tuesday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry blamed India for the violence.

There was a serious physical conflict on both sides

"There has been a serious physical conflict between the two sides over the actions of Indian troops," Lijin said. China has protested against the Indian side on the issue. We urge India to take a tough stance on the issue of border crossings by its troops and to refrain from taking unilateral action which could further complicate the border situation.

'India changed its mind'

In the midst of all this, a statement was released by the Chinese military PLA claiming that India was not sticking to its word, citing the June 6 general agreement.

Galvan Valley was claimed by the PLA as its own and claimed to have always been China's right. According to the PLA, the Indian troops deliberately carried out provocative attacks, resulting in serious clashes and casualties.
