Srinagar, Saturday 13 June 2020

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district on Saturday foiled a terror plot by introducing their vigilance and adventure.

Here a powerful explosive device (IED) was found under a bridge and defused, thus avoiding a major incident.

Defense Ministry spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that after the IED was discovered on the Srinagar-Bandipora road on Saturday morning by security forces on the road, traffic was stopped on the bridge and a bomb disposal squad (BDS) was called.

The BDS very carefully defused the ID without any damage, the explosive was placed on a bridge over the Erin River in Bandipora.

Colonel Kalia said that if the ID had not been deactivated in time, there would have been a huge loss of life and property, as well as loss of road connectivity. The area was sanitized after the operation.
