The center plans to launch international flights in mid-June

New Delhi, 23rd May 2020 Saturday

Three days after announcing the launch of domestic flights from May 3, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said that India will make efforts to launch international flights before August.

Regarding the opposition of some states against starting domestic flights from Monday, Puri said it was natural to oppose such decisions in the current situation.

Addressing the Facebook live session, Puri clarified that the health bridge app is not mandatory for air passengers and they will be able to fill up a self-declaration form instead.

I sincerely hope that before August or September we will make efforts to start a large number of international flights. We should have a more ambitious goal than that. Why not start in mid-June or in late June or July?

All scheduled commercial passenger flights have been canceled since March 8. He further said that 5,000 Indians stranded abroad under the Vande Bharat Mission between May 7 and May 31 have been safely repatriated.
