One of the richest countries in the world is running out of food for foreign workers. One in four people in Qatar tested positive for corona. A lockdown has been imposed there to prevent this epidemic. As a result, foreign workers have no work, no money and no way to go home. They have run out of food. It also includes a large number of Indian laborers.

Qatar hosts the 2020 FIFA Football Cup. For this, a large scale stadium as well as some basic structures are being developed there. For which there are thousands of foreign laborers working. But outbreaks of the corona virus have halted construction.

There are more than 2 million foreign workers in Qatar. Of all the tests conducted there in the last one week, 25 per cent were positive. It also involves a large number of foreign laborers. Most of the workers working in Qatar are from India, Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The total population of Qatar is 2.8 million and there have been about 18,000 cases of corona.

“The company said they would not pay us in April but give us some money to eat,” said an Indian who has been stranded in an industrial area for the past one month. But we got nothing. A few days ago he gave us a tray of eggs and some oil. Other than that we got nothing. How much trouble we are having here. It looks like we're in jail.

This is the situation of foreign workers not only in Qatar but also in other Gulf countries. These countries employ thousands of laborers from South and Southeast Asia and East Africa. Suicide cases of foreign workers are on the rise in Kuwait. Thousands of foreign workers have been stranded in the UAE while Saudi Arabia has expelled thousands of Ethiopian workers working at home.
