New delhi date. May 30, 2020, Saturday

This time the effect of Corona can be seen on the grand rath yatra of Lord Jagannath which takes place every year in Puri, Odisha. Considering the danger of Kovid-19 epidemic, this time there will be a ban on involving devotees in the rath yatra. The Shri Jagannath Temple Management Committee has suggested the government to hold an annual Bhagwan Jagannath Rathyatra in Puri without devotees.

After which the Odisha government has asked the Indian Railways not to run trains for Puri, keeping in view the committee's recommendation. The decision was taken at a meeting of a committee chaired by Gajapati Maharaj Divyasinh Dev, traditionally considered a ministerial servant of God.

The committee recommended that the state government arrange for a live broadcast of the annual festival so that millions of devotees around the world could watch it on TV at home. The final decision is up to the state government.
