Earthquake shakes Delhi-NCR in last one-and-a-half months, geologists warn

There have been 10 moderate-magnitude earthquakes in Delhi and NCR in the last one and a half months amid the Corona virus epidemic. This is a sign that there could be a catastrophic earthquake in Delhi in the future. Such a warning has been given by the geologists of the country.

"We cannot predict the exact time, place and accuracy of the quake but we believe that there is a continuous earthquake in the NCR area which could cause a major earthquake in Delhi," said the president of an organization under the Union Ministry of Science and Industry.

Notably, Delhi is located in a high-risk seismic zone and private buildings have been constructed in its border cities. Very few of them have followed the rules of the Bureau of Indian Standards for anti-earthquake construction.
