Corona: India launches clinical trial of 'AYUSH' drugs, health minister calls 'historic' step

Amid rising corona virus infection in the country, the government is exploring the possibility of using ayurvedic medicines for its treatment. On Thursday, Union Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan said a clinical trial of other AYUSH drugs, including Ashwagandha, would be started from today to find out how useful it is in preventing or treating coronary heart disease.

Dr. According to Harshvardhan, clinical trials of the drugs will be conducted on health workers, those who come in contact with infected patients or others who are at high risk of infection. He termed the move as historic and said that it would be tried with the technical assistance of CSIR, ICMR and efforts would be made to prove the superiority of Ayurvedic medicines through modern methods.

Clinical trials of AYUSH drugs are being conducted on health workers and people working in high-risk areas to prevent or effectively treat coronavirus infections. According to the Health Minister, this historic work has started in India at a time when there is an atmosphere of war all over the world over the transmission of Corona virus.
