The extradition of fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya to India is being heard in a British court. In it, Mallya on Thursday once again asked the government to close the case against him by accepting his offer to repay 100 per cent of his debt.

Mallya congratulated the government on announcing an economic package of Rs 20 lakh crore. Mallya said the proposal to pay off his debts was being consistently ignored by the government. Mallya tweeted, "Congratulations to the government for providing the Covid-19 relief package. They can print as many currencies as they want, but should a small contributor like me continue to ignore the offer of 100 per cent repayment of a bank loan? '

Mallya, the promoter of Kingfisher Airlines, has been charged in India with fraud and money laundering. He is accused of fraud of about Rs 9,000 crore. Mallya has asked the government to take the money unconditionally and close the case. After losing the case in a London court, Mallya filed an appeal against extradition to the British Supreme Court.

After Mallya's appeal was dismissed in a British court, he now had 14 days to appeal to the British Supreme Court. Mallya has been in Britain since March 2016 and has been out on bail since April 2017 after being arrested on an extradition warrant.

It may be mentioned that Vijay Mallya has tweeted many times before in which he has appealed that he wants to pay all the amount taken from the bank.
