Cyclone Amphan has wreaked havoc in West Bengal. This is the worst storm in the last 283 years. Meanwhile, PM Modi has arrived in Amphan to conduct an aerial survey of the affected areas. Prime Minister Modi has reached Calcutta where he was received by Mamata Banerjee. Both leaders have now left for an aerial survey.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has boarded a helicopter for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, state Governor Jagdeep Dhankad and several Union ministers for an aerial survey. PM Modi will conduct aerial inspections of places in the North and South, after which a meeting is to be held at Basirhat.
As many as 80 people have been killed in West Bengal due to Hurricane Amphan till Friday morning. The state is estimated to have lost about Rs one lakh crore.
