24 workers killed, several injured in tragic accident between two trucks in UP's Auraiya

The Gamkhwar road accident took place on Saturday morning in Uttar Pradesh's Auraiya district. The incident took place on the Delhi-Kolkata highway when a DCM vehicle full of laborers was parked near a dhaba for tea and water when it was hit by a trolley laden with lime. The tragedy has so far killed 24 people and sent 21 to the district hospital. Also, 15 people have been referred to Saifai.

The incident took place near Chiruhuli in Auraiya and the district administration team rushed there as soon as the incident was reported. It was learned that the lime trolley was carrying about 70 migrant laborers and was heading from Rajasthan to West Bengal. While the DCM vehicle was going to Sagar Madhya Pradesh with 20 laborers from Ghaziabad. Both the vehicles were carrying laborers mostly from Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar and Odisha and their bodies were exhumed one by one from the limestone.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed sorrow over the incident and sent condolences to the families of the deceased. He also directed the IG and commissioner of Kanpur to reach the spot and prepare a report with the cause of the accident and provide medical facilities to the victims.
