Religious gatherings, Home Ministry's stance on distribution of ration by leaders demanded reply from Secretary-DGP

In addition, the Home Ministry has turned a blind eye to the issue of allowing religious gatherings to break the rules of lockdown in West Bengal and distributing ration by leaders and demanded an answer from the Chief Secretary and the DGP. As many as nine hotspots of Corona virus have been declared in West Bengal, more than 3 people gathered in a mosque to attend Friday prayers in Gopinathpur village. On receiving this information from the police, they reached the mosque immediately and urged the people not to violate the lockdown order. People did not believe that at last the people were sent home with the help of the imam of the mosque.

On the other hand, the Union Home Ministry has taken a red eye on non-compliance of lockdown in West Bengal. The ministry has objected to the fact that shops other than essential items are also open in West Bengal and religious rallies are allowed and distribution of ration by leaders instead of officers. The Home Ministry has strongly condemned the West Bengal Chief Secretary and the DGP in this regard and demanded an answer.

The Home Ministry's letter claims that there is no control over the vegetable, fish and meat markets in West Bengal. This violates the criteria of social detention. The exemption rate from the state government is increasing. Non-warehouse shops are also allowed to be open. Distribution of free rations is being done by the leaders rather than the traditional distribution system. All of this can lead to the transmission of Covid-1. Such activities are a breach of the Centre's orders and a punishable act.
