Coronavirus: Pak PM Imran Khan disappointed, no country helped even a dollar

Islamabad, Sunday 26 April 2020

Pakistan's notorious economy has been crippled by harboring terrorists, and the Corona virus epidemic has ravaged the country. No international organization has helped Pakistan with a single dollar in these difficult times.

The World Bank and the IMF have also withdrawn a helping hand. And there are no prospects of coming out of this predicament in the near future, Prime Minister Imran Khan has repeatedly appealed, but no country has come forward for help.

He had just a few days ago appealed to the global community to forgive the debts of the weaker countries. On the other hand, talking to influential people and journalists on social media, Imran Khan said that the epidemic has badly affected the economy and despite such serious difficulties. But no country or global organization has been helped by a single dollar, although he said the IMF has given relief in loan repayment.

There was good news for Pakistan in early March when the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) also agreed to pay 58 588 million to fight the Corona virus and its socio-economic impact. As soon as the Corona cases escalated, the Imran government started talks with both the banks.

A statement issued by the government said the World Bank would provide a loan of 23 238 million and the ADB a loan of 35 350 million. This was a big relief for Pakistan as it had hoped that the World Bank would give it only 14 140 million, but it pledged more than કરોડ 230 million in aid.

At the same time, the U.S. said it would help with a million dollars. According to Imran, Pakistan has not yet received the amount. In the same way, his friend China was satisfied only by giving him a mask and a kit. And even the masks and other stuff were defective.
