The United States rejected one in every five H-1B visa applications in 2019

(PTI) Washington, Ta. February 5, 2020, Thursday

In 2019, the United States rejected one out of every five H1B applications. The rate of approval for H1B visas has been steadily declining since Donald Trump came to power. On the other hand, Indian companies like TCS and Infosys are more likely to reject HBB requests than American companies.

An H1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows American companies to hire specialist foreign workers from various sectors. It is worth mentioning that US-based technology companies recruit thousands of employees from India and China.

According to data released by the National Foundation for American Policy, the proportion of canceling H1B applications in 2019 is slightly lower than in 2018. The rate of cancellation of H1B visas in 2018 was 24%, which is down to 21% in 2019.

However, the rate of rejection of H1B visa applications for Indian IT companies Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Wipro is very high, while on the other hand, the decline of H1B visa applications by American technology Amazon and Google is very low.

Taking a look at the statistics on this, the rate of rejection of TCS and Infosys H1B visa applications in 2019 was 31% and 35% respectively. However, for other Wipro and Tech Mahindra the rates were 47 and 37 percent respectively.

On the other hand, the proportion was four percent for American companies Amazon, four percent for Google, 6 percent for Microsoft, three percent for Walmart and three percent for Facebook.

The Trump administration is to announce new rules for H1B visas in 2020. These rules make it more difficult for companies operating in the United States to hire foreign employees in the US.
