Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaram was told at a press conference today that the date for filing the Income Tax Return has been extended to June 30.

He said that by June 30, the interest rate on diluted payments has been reduced from 12 percent to nine percent. In addition, the interest rate for TDS deposits has also been reduced from 18% to 9%. The deadline for TDS filing will also be June 30, 2020. The date for linking Aadhar to Aadhaar has also been postponed to 30 June. The deadline for the controversial trust scheme has also been extended to June 30. The deadline was also March 31.

Nirmala Sitaram was told that the date for filing the GST return has also been extended to June 30. The government has also decided not to charge late fees from traders who have turnover of up to Rs 5 crore.

State level finance minister Anurag Thakur had said that companies have been given a 60-day deadline for board meetings. The government may also suspend the Indian bankruptcy code to provide relief to companies.
