Petition in High Court to cancel IPL due to Corona threat

Demand for IPL cancellation is mounting amid growing outbreak of corona virus in India.

The cricket board is not interested in canceling tournaments earning crores of rupees, but a petition has been filed in the high court to cancel the IPL in Chennai. It said IPL should be canceled in view of Corona's growing threat.

Earlier, the Health Minister of Maharashtra has also demanded that the IPL be banned. The Maharashtra government has to take a decision today about organizing IPL matches in the state.

Some IPL franchises have even suggested playing matches in empty stadiums.

On this tournament, which runs from March 29 to May 24, board chairman Sourav Ganguly has already said that IPL will be played according to the timetable set.
