NA to remove posters of CAA opponents Q High Court order to govt

The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh publicly posted banners in Lucknow on the road in protest against the CAA and images of those accused of violence. The matter was later reached to the Allahabad High Court where the court has struck the government and ordered the banners be removed immediately.

Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Judge Ramesh Sinha also lashed out at the Uttar Pradesh government, saying that such posters should not be applied at all.

In observing its injunction, the court also said that the disclosure of a person's personal information in such a manner without its permission is a breach of the rights of privacy. Immediately the police commissioner was ordered to remove these banners.

On March 7, the court took the entire incident as a suomoto, and even when the trial was underway on Sunday, stating that it was a breach of the rights of privacy to ban anyone's pictures and names and addresses in public, as well as an injustice. Later, the matter was postponed till Monday. In its order on Monday, the high court has asked the government to remove these posters.

It also ordered the court to give a full report of whether the banner was implemented, whether the banners were removed in a timely manner. The High Court had given the government and police officers till March 16 for this. Many people have criticized the government on social media for banning banners without permission.
