Following the corona, the NPR process is suspended indefinitely

New delhi date. March 26, 2020, Thursday

The central government has taken a big decision in view of the Corona epidemic. The central government has indefinitely postponed the process of updating the National Population Register, the NPR.

The NPR process was to start in one of several states on April 1. However, in view of the increasing infection and potential dangers of the Corona virus, the Home Ministry has postponed the process of updating the NPR until further orders.

It is worth mentioning that the 2021 census was planned in two phases. The first phase under this scheme was the calculation and listing of houses from April 2020 to September 2020. In the second phase, the census was planned from 9 to 28 February 2021.

In view of the epidemic of the Corona virus, the central government has announced lockdown till April 14 across the country.

During this time all activities except life essential services will be closed. The central government has ordered all ministries to strictly comply with the lockdown.

In order to prevent the spread of corona, the government has ordered people to comply with social disassociation. Since it is difficult to start the NPR process in this case, it has been decided to suspend the process indefinitely.

It is worth mentioning that several states have appealed to the central government that the NPR process be postponed due to the corona transition.
