1.05 crore recovered in two days for violation of traffic rules in Odisha

Within two days of the revised Motor Vehicles Act, 2019, the Odisha government has imposed a fine of Rs 1.06 crore on violators of traffic rules, authorities said. The penalty amount has been collected by the RTO staff and police since Sunday.

The state government has begun implementing the revised Motor Vehicles Act, 2019, from March 1, after giving six months relief in two phases. According to officials, 126 persons have been fined for running three bikes on the bike and 49 for talking on the vehicle on the current vehicle.

Ten people have been fined for driving on the Rong side, 1831 for driving without a helmet, 349 for driving without a seat belt, 24 for drunk driving and 277 for driving at a fixed speed.

In the penalty amount of Rs 1.06 crore, the RTO officials raised Rs 88 lakh from 1785 loco under penalty. When the police sentenced 2122 people to a total fine of Rs 18 lakh. Meanwhile, the Congress has demanded that the penalties be reduced in Odisha like Gujarat and other states.
