Thiruvananthapuram airport against the handover of Adani in Kerala government supreme

New delhi date. February 21, 2020, Friday

The Kerala government has challenged the Airport Authority of India (AAI) decision to assign Thiruvananthapuram International Airport to Adani Enterprise. It is worth mentioning that in February 2019, Adani Enterprise won the bid for operations and operation of Thiruvananthapuram International Airport for 50 years.

The Kerala government had also applied to the Kerala High Court in this regard. The Kerala High Court rejected the state government's petition and said that because of the dispute between the Center and the state government, the applicant should apply in the Supreme Court. The case is likely to be heard in the Supreme Court next week.

The Kerala government filed a petition in the Supreme Court on February 3rd. When contacted by Adani Enterprise, a spokesperson said, "As the case is going to court, no comment can be made at this time."

During the bid, Adani offered to pay Rs 168 per passenger, state-owned Care State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) Rs 135 per passenger and GMR group Rs 63. After losing in a bid, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that the airport should not be handed over to a private company.
