Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaram gave the longest budget speech ever. He presented the budget for 160 minutes. Also, the speech was shortened due to poor health. If he had not shortened the budget speech, perhaps the speech would have lasted more than three hours.

The finance minister spoke 13,275 words in a three-hour speech. It also includes Kashmiri poetry. The finance minister read a Kashmiri poem written by poet Dinanath Kaul. The finance minister had also translated the poem saying that he was a native. The house was buzzing at the time of the poem and the members welcomed the words of the poem by tapping it.

In addition to Kashmiri poetry, he quotes well-known quotes from ancient Tamil poet Thiruvallur, besides Kalidas. He described various schemes of the government as Panch Ratna, saying that Prime Minister Modi was completing the creation of Thiruvallur.

Nirmala Sitharaman's health condition was shortened by her speech. Nevertheless, he spoke for 160 minutes, three hours in a row. After 10 minutes of 150 minutes he had a hard time speaking. He continued his further speech by drinking water constantly.

Meanwhile, Nitin Gadari, who was sitting next to him, gave him candy. Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari constantly talked to him about health. Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted him immediately after the speech was over. All the ministers also discussed their health after completing the budget speech.

The longest speech was recorded in the name of Nirmala Sitharaman. The speech he presented after the election was two hours 17 minutes long. The previous record was in the name of Jaswant Singh, in 2003 Jaswant Singh lectured for 2 hours 13 minutes.

When Arun Jaitley delivered a budget speech two hours and 10 minutes long in 2014, he read 253 paragraphs. The highest paragraph reading record is Jaitley's. The highest word record was in the name of Manmohan Singh, while Manmohan Singh spoke 18,650 words when presenting the budget for the year 1991. The record for most words is still unbelievable.

Our hometown: Translation of Kashmiri poetry

Nirmala Sitharaman is not dominant in either language, either Hindi or Kashmiri, though he has stated the essence of poetry in Kashmiri and Hindi. The Hindi translation of the poem was something like this.

Khilte Huye Shalimar Bagh Jaisa, our hometown,

Our hometown Dal Zil Me Khilte Hue Kamal Jaisa

Jaisa, young or hot-blooded,

My hometown, your hometown, our hometown

Duneeya ka sabse dear homeland
