The government has no record of Savarkar's apology

New Delhi, Feb 5, 2020, Wednesday

Amid reports that Veer Savarkar had written a letter of apology to the British government for release from Andaman Nicobar's cellular jail, it was reported that the government did not have any information or details of the so-called letter written by Savarkar.

There is no mention of this in the sound and light shows organized by cellular prisons for tourist travelers.

The Tourism and Culture Department of the Center said in Parliament on Tuesday that Vinayak Damodar Savarkar (Veer Savarkar) had no record of the so-called letter written by the British Government to the Andaman Nicobar administration. Minister of State for Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply to a question.

Prahlad Singh Patel answered this in response to a question as to why Veer Savarkar's apology was not mentioned in the light and sound show held in the cellular jail of Andaman and Nicobar. He said that the Tourism and Culture Department of the Andaman and Nicobar system has no record of the matter.

It should be noted here that Shiv Sena leaders like a key constituent of the Maharashtra state government are constantly demanding the giving of Bharat Ratna to Veer Savarkar. But Congress, which is another component of the Maharashtra state government, strongly opposed this demand.
