Restore full state status to Jammu and Kashmir: Ghulam Nabi Azad

New delhi date. 5 February 2020 Wednesday

During the debate on the President's address to both Houses of Parliament during the commencement of the Budget Session, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad demanded that Jammu and Kashmir be given full state status and release of all detained Kashmiri leaders after repealing Article 370.

Last year, the Union government revoked the 370th clause giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir and made Jammu and Kashmir separate union territories and detained all Kashmiri leaders.

Azad said that in the current budget session, present the bill to make Jammu and Kashmir a full state. He said that people from the state in the border area suffer the most. The Center accepts its mistake and once again returns the status of the state to Jammu and Kashmir. Azad appreciated the work done by the Indian Army in the border areas.

Azad also said that by accepting the demands of the protesters in Shaheen Bagh, take steps that would satisfy them. He regretted that not a single Union minister had visited the protestors till date.
