Ranjit Bachchan, president of Vishwa Hindu Mahasabha, was shot dead in Lucknow

Ranjit Bachchan, the Hindu leader and the president of the Vishwa Hindu Mahasabha, has been killed openly in Uttar Pradesh's capital, Lucknow.

Gorakhpur resident Ranjit left for the morning walk early in the morning when the rogue rider on the bike fired several bullets in his head and fled. He lived in the B-block of the OCR building in Hazaratganj and was formerly associated with the Samajwadi Party.

It was learned that he was leaving for a morning walk with Aditya Srivastava, the brother of Masiyi, and on the way to the change point, the assailants from Shal Oudhi grabbed him and grabbed his mobile phone and fired. He died on the spot in the sudden attack while the injured Aditya has been admitted to the Trauma Center.

In the preliminary inquiry, Aditya informed that the relationship between Bachchan and his wife Kalindi was strained and a case was registered at the Gorakhpur police station. As many as eight crime branch teams have started investigations to resolve the case and CCTV footage etc. is being investigated.

Upon receiving the news of the massacre, high officials including the Lucknow Police Commissioner reached the scene and sent the body for postmortem. In the month of October last year, Hindu activist and Hindu Samajwadi Party president Kamlesh Tiwari was also killed in the house.
