Hyderabad, Ta. February 27, 2020, Friday

Hyderabad correspondent and social activist Silvery Srisailam has lodged a police complaint against social media companies - WhatsApp, Twitter and Twitter - for spreading anti-country messages and videos. Police started the process of filing a complaint and sending notices to the companies.

Hyderabad correspondent and social activist Silvery Sreesalam has filed a petition before a court on allegations that anti-country activity is taking place through a platform of social media companies.

The court accepted the petition and directed the police to file a complaint. Finally, the police have lodged a complaint against WhatsApp, Twitter and Tactic to send notices to the three companies.

Hyderabad Police's cybercrime department said that a notice to clarify the companies will be sent shortly. If companies do not respond properly, further action will be taken.

The applicant said that as he had come to mind, many anti-national messages were circulating in WhatsApp. He had filed a complaint against WhatsApp by collecting messages from such a group. Similarly, anti-country posts were also posted on Twitter and provocative videos were posted on Twitter, giving anti-country messages.

He has filed a complaint against the companies, collecting all these messages, posts and videos. The applicant argued that under the Information Technology Act-2000, companies have been allowed to use the platform to spread anti-national information. It is a crime. If a user disseminates such information, the company cannot be relieved of its responsibility to prevent it.

The petitioner claimed that many Pakistani users had spread anti-national posts in connection with the CAA protests in India. These companies, serving in India, did not stop the spread of hateful posts and videos. It is necessary to take drastic action against them.

The applicant collected the message and video in languages like English, Hindi, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu and linked it to the application. The cybercrime department of Hyderabad police said that all these messages and videos were being verified. Only then will there be more clarity on that.
