Food inflation rises to 3.1 percent in January, with food inflation rising

Wholesale retail inflation has also increased since retail inflation. In January, 2020, inflation based on inflation was 3.1 percent. Onion and potato prices have increased due to inflation based on inflation. In December 2019, inflation based on inflation was 2.59 percent.

Inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) was 2.76 per cent in January, 2019. According to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, food inflation was 11.51 percent in January, 2020. Inflation in non-food items was recorded at 7.8 per cent.

It is noteworthy that food inflation in December 2019 was 2.41 percent while non-food items inflation was 2.32 percent. Vegetable prices increased 52.72 percent in January, 2020. Onion prices increased by 293 percent. Potato prices were up 37.34 percent.

It is worth mentioning that the retail inflation figures were announced just two days ago. Retail inflation rose to 7.59 percent in January, 2020. Which is a 6 year high.

The monetary policy review issued by the RBI last week did not reduce interest rates. According to sources, the RBI did not reduce interest rates only due to rising inflation.
