Confrontation in Parliament on reservation: Government says Supreme Court verdict, we do not have to

New Delhi, Feb 10, 2020, Monday

There was a lot of turmoil on the issue in Parliament today after the Supreme Court said that there was no fundamental right reserved in government jobs and promotions.

Opposition seized the opportunity to wash the government at this point. In the parliament, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan said that since independence, SC and ST have been discriminating. The government is taking away their rights. Because the Uttarakhand government has argued in the Supreme Court that the reserves on SC and ST should be removed. Two things have come up against the Supreme Court ruling. On the one hand, SC-ST has no fundamental right to recruit on government posts. Secondly, it is not the constitutional duty of the government to look after their reserves in government jobs.

On the other hand, the BJP MPs upset the statement saying that the decision was not from the government but from the Supreme Court. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi had said that the government has nothing to do with the decision. In 2012, there was a Congress government in Uttarakhand that went to the Supreme Court.

BJP colleague Lok Jan Shakti Party's Chirag Paswan told that the reservation is a constitutional right and our party does not agree with the Supreme Court verdict. The government should intervene in this matter.
