Announcement to form Ram Temple Trust

New Delhi, Feb 5, 2020, Wednesday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally announced the formation of the Ram Temple Trust during the ongoing budget session in Parliament.

He said that the name of the trust will be Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Shrine Trust. In November last year, the Supreme Court ordered the central government in the Ram temple dispute judgment to construct a trust within three months of the verdict and start construction of the temple in accordance with its constitution.

In addition, the Supreme Court ordered the Sunni Waqf Board to give five acres of land to construct a mosque in Ayodhya. The state government of Uttar Pradesh had suggested three plots to the Sunni Waqf Board, of which one was to be selected by the Sunni Waqf Board.

The deadline for the Supreme Court on February 9 was set to expire. Earlier on Wednesday morning, the Prime Minister formally announced the creation of the proposed trust of Ram Temple. The announcement was made within the time limit given by the Supreme Court.
