Snowfall in the Himalayas: The lowest temperature of the season was recorded in Mumbai

The mountainous areas of the Himalayas have received fresh snowfall while the mild rains in the plains have brought maximum temperatures in northern India on Friday. However, the mercury plummeted to a low of 11.4 degrees Celsius in Mumbai and the suburbs this season.

In Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh, heavy rains late on Thursday night created fog in the early hours of Friday morning, affecting reduced visibility. The meteorological department said that foggy fog was expected in areas of north India on Saturday morning.

Himachal Pradesh's tourist destinations Kufri, Dalhousie and Shimla have received fresh snowfall. Kufri had 10 cm of snow while Dalhousie had five cm of snow. Shimla and other parts received light snow. The Met department has forecast snowfall and light rain for the next few days.

In northern India, the maximum temperature was increased after snowfall and rainfall, with the mercury plummeting below 11.4 degrees C for the first time in Mumbai this winter. The lowest temperature this season was recorded in Mumbai.

The minimum temperature in Mumbai was recorded at 11.4 degrees Celsius in 2013. Meanwhile, the one-way traffic opened on Friday after four days after the Jammu-Srinagar highway opened. After several landslides and snowfall near Jawahar Tunnel in Banihal-Ramban sector, all roads connecting the Kashmir Valley to the country were closed.
