Rocket attack on American airbase in Iraq again: no casualties

Baghdad, 16 January 2020 Thursday

The rockets have been dropped at the US Air Force base in Iraq once again. The Quetta rockets were fired at the base of the American-led coalition forces north of Baghdad. According to information provided by the Iraqi army, American troops are also stationed at the airbase. However, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

However, no information was found on casualties due to the attack. This airbase is used by the US Army. Media reports say that this renewed attack shows that tensions between the United States and Iran are escalating.

It is worth mentioning that after the American attack by Iranian General Qasim Sulaimani was killed in the attack on the American military base in Iraq continued. Iran also attacked two military bases. Since then there have been constant attacks. Members of Iran-backed militia are believed to be carrying out the attacks in Iraq. It is worth mentioning that after the death of Sulaimani, all the organizations and countries deployed in the Iranian field had appealed for a sustained attack on the United States.

Earlier on Sunday, 6 mortars were released at the Iraqi Ab Balad Airbase. Seven of the mortars damaged the airway's runway. Four Iraqi soldiers were wounded in the attack. However, the US has alleged that the attack was carried out by an Iranian-backed group in Iraq.

The attack comes days after the statement of Qas al-Khajali, leader of Iraq's Iran-backed Shi'ite militia, Aseb Ahl al-Haq. It said that Iran had initially responded to the death of the Iranian military commander and that it was time for Iraq to respond to American air strikes.
