Recommendation of action against 25 District Magistrates and Officers

New Delhi, Jan 7, 2020, Tuesday

The CBI, after completing a total of 17 investigations into the alleged exploitation of children in Shelter Homes in Bihar, submitted its report to the Supreme Court on Monday, including recommending action against twenty-five district officials and a total of 71 government officials, including some district magistrates.

The CBI told the Supreme Court that the children were being sexually exploited due to the authorities failing to fulfill their duty. The names of the twenty-five officers were also submitted in detail to the Supreme Court. Simultaneously it was recommended to the Bihar State Government that strict action should be taken against the administrators of some NGOs whose names are in our report.

Here, it should be remembered that the CBI filed a charge sheet in last year's Navembunar after examining the other seven shelter homes. A total of 17 chargesheets were filed.

The CBI report clearly mentioned the criminal negligence of the concerned district officials. After filing an affidavit in the Supreme Court, the CBI said it was likely that Delhi's Saket court would announce its verdict on January 14.

The main accused in the case of sexual exploitation of children is former Brijesh Thakur, the People's Party, and several others. More than 40 minors were raped constantly at a Shelter Home run by Brijesh. CBI investigations also found evidence of this. There was no evidence that this happened in the other four shelter homes.
