'Ready to meet the challenges facing the security of the nation': CDS General Rawat

New delhi date. December 31, 2019, Tuesday

On the last day of the year, General Mukund Mohan Narwane took over as Army Chief as the new Chief of the Indian Army. He accepted this responsibility from retired Army Chief Bipin Rawat.

Rawat, who retired today, was appointed as the country's first Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), as decided by the government. In this way, there were two important changes in the defense sector of the country today.

On the occasion, when the baton was handed over to the new general Narawani, General Rawat said that the Indian army under Naravani's leadership would achieve greater heights. He also said that we are now more prepared and better prepared to meet the ritualistic challenges facing India's security.

He thanked all the soldiers, civilians, ex-servicemen, Veer Nari (mothers' widows), mothers and their families who stood behind him during his 3 years as military chief.

Greetings to soldiers facing frostbite

He specifically said that I would like to extend special congratulations to the soldiers who have been stationed in the north, east and northeast of the country. Because there are icy winds blowing and temperatures have reached minus. The atmosphere is inhospitable. Even in this situation, our soldiers are doing their duty. The morning before the transfer of the post, General Rawat paid tribute to the martyrs at the National War Memorial and inspected the parade.

General Narwana New Army Chief

As the 28th Chief of Army Staff (military chief) of the country, General Narwani took over from General Rawat, retiring. Born in 1960, General Narwen has been in the Indian Army since 1980. Prior to becoming military chief, he was deputy chief (vice chief of the army staff). He is originally from Poona and studied at the National Defense Academy. He worked on both China and Pakistan borders, and he also took an active part in Operation Wind against Tamil Tiger in Sri Lanka.

After taking office, he emphasized strengthening the country's borders. He said that Pakistan was fighting with terrorists. This Pakistan trek will not last long. We will also respond aggressively if that boundary creates unrest.

The CDS is a three-wing honor

Asked what he would do now as Chief of Defense Staff, General Rawat said, "To this day, I was the Army Chief." There was no time to think about the next position and no priority.

Now that I am becoming a CDS, I will work for the country as per my position. But I became a CDS contributing to all the soldiers in the three-cornered wing of the country's army. The importance of the CDS is not as a person, it is Rawat on this post today, tomorrow will be someone else. The basic task is to strengthen the security of the country.

Department of Military Affairs

The task of the CDS is to maintain coordination and balance between the three armies and the government. For the CDS, the Government has recently created a special Department of Military Affairs.

Currently CDS will be considered as the head of this department along with various departments. In order to use as many indigenous goods as possible in the purchases made for all three Wings of Defense, CDS will make efforts to increase the consumption of goods made under Make in India. Under the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules 1961, the President approved the designation of CDS. After the appointment of the CDS, the total number of departments of the Ministry of Defense increased to five.

New dress for new positions

The designation of the CDS has been made for the first time in India. The dress code has a special significance in the Army, Navy, Air Force. The designation is not written before the name of any officer, it can be identified on the basis of his dress. Since CDS is different from all three, a new olive green color dress was created for her. Since the designation represents all three wings, the dress incorporates symbols of all three wings, rather than one wing.

Congratulations to America-Maldives

General Rawat was greeted by the US, Maldives, etc. for the position of CDS. Ken Zascher, the US ambassador to India, and the Maldives Foreign Ministry greeted him via tweet. In addition there were over 18 thousand congratulatory tweets from across the country.

The Prime Minister reported to General Rawat at the Farewell party

General Rawat will come as CDS that someone else has been in the discussion for a few days. The name of Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, who was the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) at the time of the surgical strike, was also discussed. Meanwhile, the retired Prime Minister hosted a farewell dinner for General Rawat, who is retiring. That's when the Prime Minister told General Rawat that you were going to be the first CDS in the country.

The government took this decision at the wrong time, even protesting against the CDS

Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari today said that the appointment of the Chief of Defense staff is wrong at this time. The government has chosen time to fulfill its political intentions. He said that in which direction the government wants to move the country through this appointment? Manish Tiwari also said that while the Ministry of Defense has various government officials, military officers and secretaries to coordinate between the three military wing and the minister. What is the need for this new position? Although there was no specific opposition to the Congress opposition, the Congress party could not present any strong objection to the CDS, as there was a protest against it.
